The Granny- Resurrected!

Coming this October 21st on Discord, we're doing a live-stream watch party with a live Q&A session with the cast from The Granny (1995)!

This is so cool, it's actually surreal. I never thought something like this would happen, and I am so proud and excited to be putting this together!

Let's start with the movie cover and the synopsis:

"Granny's family wants her dead so they can collect her insurance. While she is on her death bed, she drinks an eternal life potion and returns to the land of the living. She is on a mission to wreak havoc over her greedy relatives."

The film was released in 1995. I remember renting this from Blockbuster as a kid, around 1997 when I was about 12 years old. I was already a big horror fan, and had seen movies such as "Child's Play" when I was about 5, so my mom didn't seem to care if I wanted to watch horror movies at that age. I originally went in, looking for a title called "Rabid Grannies"- Someone at school had mentioned it, saying they eat their relatives. Some other kids were grossed out while I exclaimed how cool it sounded.

I looked at Blockbuster, but didn't see one called "Rabid Grannies" at that store. I happened to see "The Granny", read the description, and thought "huh, close enough?" and decided to give it a go!

I took it home, went to my room late at night to watch. The opening scene was so intense, creepy, messed up and fun, so once the title screen came on, I was pretty excited. Throughout the movie I laughed so hard and gotten so creeped out and scared at many scenes that did end up haunting my nightmares a few times (Such as the mink fur scene, especially!) It ended up being one of my favorites.

As the years passed, I dove deeper into the horror community- attending horror conventions, meeting awesome actors and directors, and so forth. There were times I'd mentioned "The Granny" but it wasn't as well-known, but a few here and there knew and got excited for it. I even remember seeing The Granny Facebook page and how cool to find a community for this cool movie!

I saw Luca was on Facebook, and reached out to him. I just had to tell him how much I loved the movie, and he was so responsive and nice! He was happy I loved the movie, and told me a few interesting tidbits!

So time went on, and in my online life, I've done online streams and commentary streams, as well as online streaming for my art and video games. One day I thought, more people really need to see The Granny, and it would be so much fun to get a watch party together with the fans. Maybe even do a Q&A with Luca and the crew!

I pinged Luca about my idea and he was really into it! We got to talking, and it just started growing from there. Now we've got some cast and crew members who want to be on the Q&A Panel. We decided to do it on Discord, where we can livestream it and ask questions in the panel afterward.

I'm thrilled to be putting this together with an excellent team! So join us on October 21, 2023, 12pm Eastern and let's watch THE GRANNY together!
