The World of Julie Kitsulie is always on the go! I can barely keep up myself! In fact, my last post was back in February, whoa! Well, as usual a lot has been going on. Let me start off with the biggest one: Spring Day of this year, I've been offered an AMAZING opportunity- I am now working Full-Time as a Digital Publisher & Production Coordinator at a wonderful company that I've had my eye on! Wow! You might be wondering but Julie, you loved Freelancing and doing all the different stuff, what happened to that? Ah! Well you see, as a 30-something who just got her own house with herself and a loving fur family to support, working all of these jobs just wasn't cutting it.
Sure, I loved the work and it was always new and exciting. The work was a wonderful experience- I was working during the week as a Tour Guide of Atlanta and I learned more about Atlanta than I ever thought I could. I was a trivia host on weeknights where I could entertain people. I was working weekends as a Kid's Birthday Party Entertainer. In between all that I was doing other stuff as well- freelance graphics and commissions but the thing was, I was running a ZILLION different directions, with no set schedule, and honestly barely making it by. I was tired all of the time, I was always worried about my next paycheck or commission, I was always hunting and stressing and exhausted- it was making me anxious and depressed. I barely had any free time for my own creative endeavors and that was really stifling me. So I began hunting for full time jobs. Not just any full time jobs either, I wanted one that was aligned with my career path, somewhere where I did something I loved doing and was good at- a meaningful place where I could contribute, make a difference, work hard and have fun doing it, but also grow within the company. I was applying and hunting for months. Until finally I got the Email for an Interview and scheduled one for that very day. Then when I received the offer, I was beyond elated and so excited because the company was one I had my eye on.
Now here it is, just a couple of months later and I have to say I LOVE my job! It's a professional yet laid back environment. We create podcasts, so we're always working with hosts and producers. I seriously love everything about it- the office, the people, and the work! It's really fun work, and it also doesn't burn me out creatively. I do a great job at it and I'm learning a lot and already moving up. I'm also not super tired when I get home or on the weekends. I am actually getting into a wonderful set schedule and routine. I have free time to make plans, or work on my own creative projects! I am able to come home and work on other stuff- hobbies or practicing my animation or editing videos or writing. Anything I want! Same with the weekends! It's a wonderful feeling and honestly it's just going to get better!
So that's why I haven't updated my website in a while. I've mostly been busy making the transition from freelance to full-time work, and just getting my bearings and everything into place. But it's all so very exciting, because you know what that means? More content producing! You're going to see a lot more from Kitsulie because now I'm creating things out of want and desire, and I actually have the time to do so! I have so many wonderful ideas. Writing a short film, posting regularly in my blog, starting a YouTube Series, Doing more comics and poetry and all sorts of things!
Speaking of, let's take a peek at some art I've been doing! Well let's see, in my last post I talked about Reanimation projects- I'm still working on a few of those:
The ones I'm working on are:
Part of Your World (Finished, waiting on Release)
Cats Don't Dance "Big and Loud"
Rugrats Chuckie Vs the Potty
Sonic SATAM Intro
Charlie Brown Christmas
These might seem like a lot, but they're stretched from now until the end of the year, since a lot of people work on these there are very long deadlines. Plus, the shots are usually only a few seconds long, so really it's about focusing on the animation! It's fun, it's collaborative and laid back. Perfect way to practice animation, because the final product will be uploaded to YouTube with many eyes on it! So keep an eye out for my name on these when they're released!
I also of course work on my digital drawings in Photoshop, which I upload to Instagram.
Here's a few of my recent ones:
I'm thinking of doing a weekly Sunday Comic too! I might make a different tab/blog just for those, as I have a few series ideas in mind and I'll see which ones people enjoy the most. Here's one called "Adventures of Kitsulie" (Maybe just shortened to "Kitsulie's Adventures") Where it'll be my avatar and everyday life doing art or whatever, which I think would be a fun one to start:
I've also been doing YouTube Edits for fun! Just a fun way to practice editing and put content up. You can subscribe to my Youtube Channel if you'd like- I'm only 15 away from 500! Help me reach that milestone, that would be super awesome! I may do a special video after reaching the 500 mark! Yay! I also may do other shenanigans there. I wanted to do some live videos, more animations, and other things. I'm in the process of revamping my studio- so live actiony stuff may be later this year or next, but in the meantime there'll be other stuff too!
So that's pretty much the latest! Now that work/career and homelife is going better Toonsters, you're going to see a lot more from me, so I hope you're ready to see this Kitsulie take to the skies and fly high!
Thanks for giving this a read! If you enjoy what I do, give a share if you like! Yay!
Enjoy the Chaos and Stay TOONed!
