Good Evening Toonsters!
Happy Monday! Hope everyone's had an amazing weekend! I'm doing pretty good at this weekly posting thing, eh? Monday nights seem to be pretty good, since it's after work and weekends can usually be a bit up in the air. Plus it'll be a fun way to start off the week!
Well it was a pretty productive work week! Got a lot done both at work and just at the house in general. I did do something very exciting over the weekend- I'm going to be working at a Haunted House doing stunts! I am very excited. Let me elaborate a bit. I use to work at a couple of other haunts as an actor. At one of them, I did stunts- meaning I was hooked into a harness and I flew out over the patrons to scare them. It was an absolute blast! But as things changed and life happened and I moved around a bit, I was unable to work at them. My schedule didn't fit and it was just too far to be going all the time, plus the long night hours can get very tiring. So I missed it, but it was still a fun experience. Well, now that I'm at where I am, I knew that there was another Haunted house actually not far from where I lived. I contacted them and spoke to them over the weekend. We knew many mutuals, from being in the Haunted House/Entertainment Industry. They actually have stunts there as well- stilts and harnesses! I tried out the stilts and wow, those are much harder than they look! It'd be fun to do but I was pretty nervous being on them, they were very hard to balance. I was excited to try the harness, but it wasn't ready yet. I'll be trying that later on. Also I've found out, they offer special effects makeup classes. So in my free time, I could go and learn special effects makeup! I think it would be really cool, especially since I love face painting, and special effects and horror in general! I'm so excited to do this!
Also! Here's another exciting thing that happened! We happened to be going to the thrift store, and from afar I spotted these 2 really cool large desks. One was long and pretty simple, but this other one looked magnificent. I pondered if it would fit into my studio. I mentioned I did not have a truck, but they offered to use the truck to bring the desk to me which was super nice of them (I'm definitely going to have to make them something as a thank you) and it barely made it, but we were able to get the desk inside the studio! Wow!
Look at this beauty! 9 drawers, with 2 pull-out flat boards. Looking inside, I could see smears of paint. I could tell it was another artist's desk. There were even old pictures inside! This desk has a lot of stories/memories with it. Not only that, the desk and the chair were $30! Wow! Thrifting treasure!
I was especially excited because that meant I could set up my home office in my studio again. Like my Cintiq Tablet. Before, I was doing work either on my couch or on my kitchen table. Not very comfortable and my drawings weren't as good as I thought they could be. Now my Cintiq is back! and I have a comfortable space to store my supplies, write and draw! I'm so excited!
So that's this week's update! Toon in next week for more Kitsulie fun, and as always you can follow me on Twitter for all the daily shenanigans!
