Wow! My last blog update was last July when I wrote about the Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at the Fox Theatre! Actually, looking into my blog drafts, I had actually started another blog article in September and saved it as a draft and just never got around to publishing it. It was called "Finding strength for one more fight" I wrote that last year when my life was overwhelming me with changes. I hope you enjoy giving that post a read, too. I wasn't quite ready to make the news public yet then, but now I feel like I am.
This will also explain my lack of posts and artwork in general as of lately, but I'm going to get back into my groove for 2018.
I've just been through a divorce. A huge life change. My partner and I have been drifting apart for years. We were always so different, so opposite, yet somehow we made it work for a very long time, up until the past couple of years. We were drifting apart and unhappy. Yet, we went about our own lives. I don't want to dive too much into the details since they are very personal, but basically we separated over the summer of 2017, and finally we said "This isn't getting any better, we need to make a change" and make a change we did, and decided divorce was the right path for us. It was what we both wanted for our happiness, yet I was still shook and heartbroken. My emotions were a wreck, and my life was going to completely change. After a decade of being with someone, of course this was going to be completely new. I knew it was the right decision, yet it wasn't going to be easy.
We decided to tell the family, and I knew I had to move out on my own. Another huge life change. I hadn't lived on my own since I was first in college when I was 18, 19. Luckily, as fate would have it, my mother told me "You know, I am moving out of my old house and selling it, if you want it, I can sell it to you" What amazing timing! It was an affordable little 2 bedroom house. It lies on the outskirts of Atlanta, so a little bit further out to drive. But I would be living on my own. Exactly what I needed. To be by myself. I needed this alone time. Quiet reflection, to think about what I wanted, what I needed in my life. To find myself, to create myself new again.
Of course, this isn't the end for me. Far from it. This is only the beginning.
So, as you can already tell, the past few months have been quite busy. Moving, working on divorce papers, finding new work to do, dealing with new finances, paperwork, taxes, home improvements, etc. etc. The list goes on! I feel like I've been having to work extra hard to make ends meet. I'm constantly juggling things in my life. I've barely had time to hang out with any of my friends, let alone actually work on my own stuff.
Winter is always a bit of a struggle, too. It's my least favorite season, haha. Not that I mind the cold, it's just when it's too cold to want to do anything! Plus, work isn't quite as busy in the January/February months. However, Spring time is when things really pick up! I'm very excited!
When it comes to work, I bet some of you may wonder exactly what it is I do for a living? Do I animate? Graphic Design? Kids Party Entertainer? What??
Well, all of the above! I'm a Freelancer. Self-Employed. Independent Contractor. All of those things. Basically, I do work for several clients, most of them based in Atlanta. Many of my clients are Event-Based. I love working Events, plus these clients give me several different things that I can do, making each new day a new adventure!
One of my longest running clients is Party Animals Entertainment. I've been working with them since 2007 and I entertain at Events and Kid's parties all around Atlanta! Balloons, Face Painting, Magic shows, and costumed characters! It's a blast! I also write their blog articles! I love working with them because I love to bring smiles to kids and adults!
IWeLife is an event company that puts together races in Atlanta. We put together 5K/10K races that usually benefit local charities! Their goal is to make Atlanta the #1 fittest city in the country and I think that's very cool! So basically I work as the Race Director's assistant- I help prep for the races, do their graphic design, help set up the races, take pictures, run the website, all that fun stuff! It's a blast!
LimeLite Atlanta is yet another client! They have all sorts of things for events such as DJs, Lighting, Outdoor Movies, Red Carpet Banners and more! I host a couple of their trivia nights at local bars in Atlanta! Plus, during the summer I will be helping to set up their Outdoor Movies!
You should definitely check out these places- they are Atlanta businesses that are all event based and very good people I adore working with. You know, Atlanta is my home. I may have come from Daytona Beach, Florida, but after living in Atlanta for so long, I've really come to fall in love with this city. It's why I love exploring the city and telling all my friends about it. Why I love writing about it. Why I love supporting all the local businesses. In fact, guess what I start doing today!?
I'm going to be an Atlanta tour guide with ATLCruzers! I actually start my first orientation session today! I will be driving the Electric Car and giving locals and out-of-towners a tour of our beautiful city of Atlanta! I'm going to be doing some intense studying for the next few weeks, but I'm very excited as this means I get to learn so much more about this beautiful city, the layout, the buildings and their history! Plus, another great networking experience! I love meeting people so this is something else that's absolutely fabulous!
So if you ever come to visit the beautiful city of Atlanta, you just might run into me! I tend to be running around all over the place! In fact I might even start doing Lyft driving, since I go into the city all the time, so that's another possibility!
Now you might be wondering, Julie, how the heck do you do all of these things? Well for one, I tend to be a bit of a workaholic, haha! I am seriously passionate about what I do, and I love to be productive. How do I juggle it all, if you may wonder, well actually I think that'll be a blog post for another time, for all you Freelancers! I have a system and tools that work very well for me!
In addition to all of this, I still plan to draw, animate, write blog posts and make YouTube videos, like vlogs! I have actually been wrapping up a couple of projects and tying up some loose ends but I will certainly keep everyone posted! In the meantime, you can follow me on Twitter @Kitsulie for all my latest! I'm on Instagram/Facebook too, but Twitter is where I post the most. Lots of updates, polls, and live tweets, and also stuff. I like stuff!
I also love to bring joy to all! I try to be positive, motivational and supportive of all of my friends! So reach out and say hello, I'm very friendly and I love making new friends! To those of you who took the time to read this, thank you for your love and support! *Bakes you a cookie* Have a cookie! XD
Blue Skies! Enjoy the Chaos & Stay TOONed!
