Happy Sunday Toonsters!
Hope everyone had a fun & safe Fourth of July weekend! I myself had a nice four day weekend, which was pretty good. On Thursday, I went to my great nephew's birthday party (My nephew's kid) and he's already 6 years old! I was making them laugh and ended up making some balloon animals for them which they loved (He and his 3 year old cousin). Then, I went to see my friend at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta for a festival and fireworks. I'd not been to Centennial Olympic Park, the heart of downtown, for fireworks so I took the train in, as I knew it'd be very crowded. It was nice to see my friend, and it was her birthday too- right on July 4th (Her mom used to tell her the fireworks were just for her!) So, the event was nice but not anything super special or that I'd want to go back to. It was mostly just too crowded, lots of food trucks with hour long waits and some music. On Friday, I had doctor's appointments all day (Fun right??) and then binged Stranger Things 3 and finished it that evening. On Saturday, I didn't really do much as I wasn't feeling too well. Here it is Sunday and I'm writing this! I am trying to write in my blog every Sunday, whether it's an update or perhaps a journal entry or anything. Just so you Toonsters know there will be something new here every Sunday. Sunday seems to be a good day, as I'm usually off and it's usually just a nice relaxing day in of being creative.
Speaking of being creative, I've been doing lots of creativity in my spare time when I'm not at work. I've mostly been writing my "Kitsulie's Adventures" Episodes coming soon. I've also been doing creative things with a co-collab between myself and @BelugaToons known as "Femme Furtale" You can follow @FemmeFurtale on Twitter. It's a parody account of this band that we've created, and we've been creating lots of characters and building the universe. It's all for fun, so we can really let our creativity shine. Lately, since I've been doing Voice Acting more, I've done a couple of Voiceover skits of the characters. Where we'll get a script, do the voices remotely, and then I'll edit them together with music to create almost like an animated scene! I love it because it's a chance to do voiceovers but also just have fun, and it could even be animated later! You can listen to these on SoundCloud:
This first one, "Meeting Skyler" Was the very first one. I wrote the script with the characters, then had @DesotoWright record his lines for Skyler & Marshall, and I recorded the rest, and then edited them together. Currently I'm doing it in Premiere, because that's what I had available, though I'm sure I could download Audition and do it that way too.
Here is the second one, "Estelle Calls Clarence", written by @BelugaToons. He wrote the script and did the voice for Clarence, and I did the voice for Estelle, and edited it together. @BelugaToons did the beautiful artwork of these 2. These are really fun, and you can definitely expect to hear more! I've also done more voiceover work available on SoundCloud:
Femme Furtale is really very fun! It started off as something for fun and it's really been growing. I think what works best about this collab project IS that we're doing it for fun. No set deadlines, free open creativity. We're both so laid back and bounce ideas off each other, and we really just have a blast with it! We write ideas together or on our own, or think up ideas and drawings. It's just a fun universe, and who knows where it'll go, but it works for what it is right now- A fun parody account, where, when you see the tweets, it looks like the actual characters are talking. It feels real! I love that. In fact one day we might write and put together an episode! Who knows! Follow @FemmeFurtale on Twitter and get to know the band and the universe!
Other than that Toonsters, Kitsulie is just staying creative! Although there is some other things I'd like to do. That's in addition to everything I've mentioned. I've thought about creating "branches" of my persona. What that means is, well, you all know how I love horror movies? You all also know how I love doing party entertainment/writing for kids/entertaining kids? I only sort of do both on my main "Kitsulie" Account. But I've thought of branching off into separate entities, if that makes sense. Like, Have "Kitsulie" be my main account with everything I do. But then split off. Like showing off my extreme sides. One persona would be my bright, colorful, happy, Miss sunshine, party entertainment side. I'd write children's books and shows and all sorts of things like that. But then, I also want to have my dark scary side. I'm a HUGE horror fan of all things scary, spooky, Halloween, slasher, etc. Obviously these are 2 EXTREMES. Plus, people follow me for Kitsulie- the art and adventures and whatnot. But I think it'd be cool to also have those 2 sides of me out there. That way if people are interested in the sunshine/children's book side, they can go there, or if they're interested in the horror stories/creepy art, they can visit that side. I don't know, it's a lot to think about and consider. Right now, I've been focusing on my "main" and we'll see where that goes and where I go from there.
Also! Before I forget: Check out "The Above Average Joe Show"
I created this logo for them by the way! The Above Average Joe Show is a really cool podcast about people working in film. Actors, extras, stunt people, sound crew... Even animators like me! Yes, I've been interviewed on a "Mini-Episode" and you can hear me on an upcoming episode coming this August! I'll post the link when it's up. I also did a guest voiceover in their latest episode as "Elmo" It was great fun!
I've really been getting into doing voiceover work more, as you've probably heard more of on my SoundCloud. I've recently had a houseguest crashing with me, and they've just moved out today, which means I can set my studio back up and start doing more voiceovers and even commission voiceover art soon! I'm very excited for that as well, and I'm excited to have my studio back for my creative endeavors and all my work! It was nice to help out a family member but as a creative artist, I absolutely need my alone time and creative space so I'm very happy to have that back after what felt like forever.
Wow, that was certainly a lot more typing this blog than I expected! I didn't think I'd have that much to say but I guess I usually do. That's why I love blogging, to get out my thoughts, and I love to write! Whether it's a blog, an article, a review, a script, a poem, etc. Writing is very therapeutic and fun. I hope that you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing. I think that's why I enjoy Twitter more than Instagram or Facebook. I have several various thoughts and I love to talk, sometimes I don't always have a picture but I always have something to say. So you can always follow my daily shenanigans over on Twitter.
Thanks for stopping by! Oh! Don't forget to keep an eye out for my hashtags like "KitsulieAsks" or "KitsulieSays" It's part of my new show coming out "Kitsulie's Adventures"
Blue Skies! Enjoy the Chaos & Stay Tooned!
